History. People. Choices.
Understanding the past through a live digital encounter.
The virtual tour keeps the educator at the center, using technology to make evidence, place and historical context accessible from anywhere.
What Is the Virtual Tour?
The Auschwitz Virtual Tour is a live educational session exploring the history of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp complex. Guided narration brings together panoramic views, archival photographs, survivor testimonies, maps, aerial footage and contemporary views of the Memorial.
Our dedicated interactive educational platform, developed specifically for Auschwitz Virtual Tour, brings these materials into one online session. The educator guides participants through Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, connecting the geography of the site with historical evidence and individual experiences.
Developed by Dr. Jerzy Wójcik, the program combines historical explanation with opportunities for questions and discussion. The pace and emphasis can be adapted to the group's age, preparation and educational goals.
Choose a scheduled public session or request a private session for your school, university, institution or community. For private bookings, group size and the number of devices joining are agreed during planning. A classroom sharing one screen counts as one connection.
For standard classroom sessions, the educator adapts the pace and discussion to the students, who may share a classroom screen or join individually. Large educational events use a presentation format with moderated questions and discussion. Group size and the technical setup are agreed for each event.
LIVE SESSION - Dedicated educational platform
The program is designed for schools, universities, institutions and adult audiences. We discuss the audience, learning objectives and technical arrangements when planning a private session. Any recording arrangements should also be agreed in advance.
SESSION FORMAT
The Auschwitz Virtual Tour is a live, guided session lasting 90–120 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours), including questions and discussion. It covers Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau. The balance between the two sites and the pace of the session are adapted to the audience and educational goals.

The Auschwitz Virtual Tour was outstanding. It was thoroughly and professionally presented.Melanie Diorio
I wish the history classes at school were as interesting as the tour!Margaret Lo
Jerzy's Auschwitz Virtual Tour is an example of excellent practice within the field of digital Holocaust heritage. I really enjoyed his fascinating tour.
Dr Gilly CarrUniversity of Cambridge, UK, & Member of the UK delegation of the International Holocaust Remembrance AllianceAs a second generation Holocaust survivor I decided to take a chance and view this presentation. I was blown away by the vast amount of knowledge Jerzy had on the topic and the accuracy. I felt like I was dropped into Auschwitz and actually there. The aerial views from the drones gave me a feel for the enormity of the camp. Being in the blocks, gas chambers and other spots felt surreal.
Lori Klisman Ellis and Sophie Tajch KlismanThe Auschwitz Virtual Tour was a truly amazing experience for me - there's something for everyone whether you know the history of the camp or not. The tour is guided from a human story perspective and supplemented with lots of figures so it's got the hard data of the history but you won't get bored. I wish the history classes at school were as interesting as the tour! There was a lively discussion after the tour too so you got a chance to reflect on the history and link it to the modern world. Due to the time difference I stayed up till midnight for the tour but it was totally worth it; highly recommended.
Margaret LoHong KongThank you Jerzy for an incredible moving tour on the horror that was the Holocaust I found this experience absolutely worthwhile and necessary. Seeing the children's barracks absolutely broke me - still I thank you for showing it to me. I feel I got to see and learn so much as we weren't physically walking the camp there was more time to explore and learn. Thank you thank you thank you thank you
Pamela ArensonJohannesburg, South AfricaThe efforts put in by Jerzy by sharing the slides, videos with his precise and constant commentary and summing up the tour within a specific time frame is laudable. As a Holocaust Researcher I have benefitted immensely from the Virtual Tour and I strongly support and recommend this initiative to carry on.
Mehak BurzaDoctoral Researcher, Holocaust Studies, Jamia University, IndiaHaving participated in the Auschwitz session was the best, it transported me to 1940 it is a great project, I hope it reaches many more people, since it increases their knowledge and above all enables the person to share the acquired knowledge with others.
Jessica Ivónne Acevedo LainezEl Salvador, CentroaméricaThe Auschwitz Virtual Tour was outstanding. It was thoroughly and professionally presented. I'd highly recommend this important, sobering, and enlightening virtual event. Thank you.
Melanie DiorioEnglish Teacher, Friend of North Carolina Council on the Holocaust Graduate Student at Stockton University (Master of Arts in Holocaust & Genocide Studies online program)I highly recommend the Auschwitz Virtual Tour by Jerzy Wójcik. Jerzy presents much information in a very systematic, logical and quiet way in this tour. Yet, I didn't have the feeling it was too much information. Certainly I have a better overview about the whole place with the use of modern technology than I would have if personally in Auschwitz. Everybody should see this!
Zuzana GodárováTourist guide, Bratislava, SlovakiaThe tour amazed me on several levels - I have seen many presentations during my career, and I must say that the presentation presented at this session was one of the most professional I have ever seen in terms of design, content, and flow. The diversity of the digital resources was stunning! The combination of clips, footages, pictures, original historical photographs, testimonies, and of course resources from Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Museum made the tour so realistic as if I was there.

Digital materials
Archival sources, panoramas and visual context
The session combines contemporary views of the site with historical sources and visual explanations. This makes it possible to move between place, evidence, testimony and interpretation without losing the seriousness of the subject.
Drone footage and panoramic images make the geography of Auschwitz-Birkenau easier to understand, while archival photographs and testimonies keep the focus on people, choices and evidence.
Technical setup
What participants need before the session
Computer
A desktop or laptop is recommended. Phones and tablets may be too limited for some parts of the experience.
Chrome browser
Chrome is recommended for stable display of visual materials and interactive components.
Full-screen mode
The best experience is in full screen, especially in classrooms and lecture halls.
Updated software
An outdated browser can cause some graphical elements to display incorrectly.
Strong connection
A stable connection prevents interruptions and lower display quality.
Connection test
A short test before the session is available and recommended for institutions.
Educational impact
It is not only about seeing Auschwitz online. It is about understanding the process that made Auschwitz possible.
The session is built around responsible historical interpretation, not spectacle. Its purpose is to help participants recognize evidence, mechanisms, human choices and the consequences of indifference.
